If you are thinking about a trip to Walt Disney World, then one of your biggest areas of thought is probably lodging. What is the best resort for your family?

Honestly, each family is different with unique needs and desires. I wanted to share a quick few thoughts on Walt Disney World resorts for families. This is by no means exhaustive and there remain a lot of other considerations when planning your vacation.

A few questions to think through
  • Do you plan to spend more time in one park over another?

  • How much space do you need?

  • Will you be taking a stroller back and forth from parks to your room?

  • Do you want to be able to walk, take a boat, Disney's Skyliner, or monorail to parks or restaurants?

I'll start by saying I love the Boardwalk area resorts for many families! You're within walking distance of two parks and there's tons of entertainment, transportation options, and dining nearby! Home to some of the best resorts and pools, these resorts are comfortably elevated. They're beautifully themed and wonderfully staffed, yet aren't the least bit stuffy.

Maybe you're interested in this area but would like a 'bit of a different "feel" and would like a newer resort. In this case the newer Riviera Resort may be a good option for you. With the aesthetics of a beautiful European resort and rooms that are pure luxury you're sure to enjoy your stay here. Located along Disney's Skyliner path, you'll enjoy easy access to two of the parks and several nearby resorts.

Also located along Disney's Skyliner path is Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, a great option at a lower price-point. If you're traveling with a family though (especially with young children) there are a few things you'll want to know before deciding on this resort, so be sure to reach out to me with questions!

Of course, if you are vacationing at Walt Disney World you are likely excited to visit Magic Kingdom Park! Another one of my favorite resort areas for families is the Magic Kingdom area. Here you'll find Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and the iconic Grand Floridian Resort and Spa!

If you're looking for the classic fairy tale vacation, then this could be the resort for you! We all fall in love with this beautiful architecture, but did you know that you'll need to book specific room categories in order to stay in the main building? Yep, it's true!

As you can see, accommodation possibilities are nearly endless at Walt Disney World; so many resorts that each have so many room categories and options. These are just a few of my favorite resorts to visit, but I definitely have other favorites that aren't mentioned here. If you're an adventurer or animal lover, you may feel like you're in heaven with a stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Let me know what resorts you'd like hear more about in the future!
